Perched on Casco Bay, Portland is Maine’s largest city. One of the most popular sea kayaking destinations is Fort Gorges, which sits just over a mile from the shore line. The fort dates back to 1848, and was built to protect Portland from naval attacks. The fascinating remains of the granite structure can still be explored today. That is why we picked this as the perfect lunch spot for our well earned break. Please pack a lunch and water. Kayaks and a PFD are provided.
